Dinner at Grandma's - 28 Aug 2011

My oldest brother G, his wife L, and their family of 6 kids were in town from Spokane this weekend. Like my sister Joni who was visiting last week, they were bringing their 3 sons to college to start their fall semester. We got together for another Sunday dinner at my Mom's house. Another reason for the occasion was to celebrate the birthday of my brother D's second son S.

Conversation topics overheard during or after dinner:

• How far from campus do you have to travel to find students using questionable and possibly illegal substances? Answer: Not very far.
• Debate: Under what circumstances is it OK for female college students to get in a vehicle with a couple of strangers who are offering milkshakes "at the Palace"?
• Who is Frank Zappa and how did he and his daughter Moon Unit, like, change the pattern of conversation in this country?
• How is playing a jazz bass not the same as playing an upright bass?
• Why is the birthday boy wearing two sets of glasses?
